NEW PIPING & DRUMMING SCHOOL IN OCEAN PARK, WA

With the cancellation of the 2014 school at Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, the Pacific Northwest lost an iconic and valuable fixture of our music scene.

To help fill the void and provide for the need, a new piping and drumming school has arisen, to be held at Ocean Park, Washington.

Set your calendars for the new dates, July 6 through July 11, 2014!!

Located on the idyllic Long Beach peninsula, Washington, the school will be held at the rustic Ocean Park Retreat Center.

The school promises an exciting program, following the adage “something old, something new”.   Along the format of the Coeur d’Alene school (with the same chief instructor from Dunblane, Scotland) our other instructors have been drawn from the ranks of the most promising and accomplished players on the West Coast.

The Ocean Park School will also be honouring all scholarships previously issued by the Coeur d’Alene school.

Amateur Piobaireachd Competition

We are planning an amateur Piobaireachd competition for the students at the Ocean Park school.  We expect this to be a highlight of the week’s hard work and dedication to the “ceol mor,” and we look forward to having this a part of our program.  More details to follow.

Scholarships from Couer d’Alene to be honored

“Scholarships”. The former Coeur d’Alene school for decades has been the iconic school of piping and drumming in the Pacific Northwest (unfortunately cancelled for 2014).  We are pleased to announce that in recognition of the invaluable contribution of the former Coeur d’Alene school, Ocean Park will be honouring all tuition scholarships presented to students of the Coeur d’Alene school in 2013.

We will also continue the tradition of presenting and honouring reciprocal scholarships (2) with the Master of Scottish Arts school (February 2014), and we look forward to a continuing and productive friendship with the Celtic Arts Foundation.
